Types of Florals for Wedding Day
When planning a wedding, a common question we often get asked is “What types of florals do I need to get?” Here is a quick list to help you get started.
1. Bouquets
This is probably the most obvious, but you should consider bouquets for Bride and her Bridesmaids. Brides usually have bouquet that stands out from her maids, but don’t be afraid to explore options and go outside of the norm. We’ve seen bridesmaids with floral rings and other types of unique florals. Who knows - you might start a new, viral trend!
2. Boutonnieres
Also very common, consider boutonnieres for Groom and the Groomsmen. To match the Bride, our Grooms usually have their own stand out boutonniere while the groomsmens bouts match each other. Don’t forget boutonnieres for other important people in your party like Parents, Grandparents, Officiant, Ring Bearer(s) and any other important people you wish to highlight and honor on your special day
3. Corsages (this is often overlooked!)
For mothers in our weddings (and any matriarch you’d like to honor and highlight) we suggest wrist corsages to wear on wedding day. This sometimes gets forgotten, so make a note of what you’d like to give moms to wear. Alternatively, mothers can also wear boutonnieres to match the dads.
4. Centerpieces
There are so many options when it comes to centerpieces, and nowadays they don’t have to be all floral either! Whether they are large or small arrangements, tall or short, ask your florist if they can also be used elsewhere on wedding day - such as your ceremony. We see many centerpieces used as aisle florals for the ceremony. This way, you don’t have to spend a ton on centerpieces and you get the most use out of what you have.
5. Ceremony Altar Florals
A nice way to highlight the altar where you’ll stand and be married is to add florals. Depending on your preference, you can use an arch, pedestals, floor arrangements - the choice is yours!
These florals can also be used at your sweetheart table or wherever you’ll be seated at your reception depending on your setup. Ask your florist for options on this and if they can also move these arrangements from ceremony to reception.
6. Cake Florals
If you’re having a wedding cake, a cost effective way to decorate is with florals! Some couples like to have a plain cake with no design, and then have their florist come in and add real flowers to the cake. It’s an easy and relatively simple way to dress up a cake. And probably one of our favorites to see on wedding day.
